"Bucket Filling"

Activity

Summary

Participants will grow in kindness, self-control, resilience and forgiveness – leading to a happier life

Instructional Strategies

1. Tell young children that a bucket represents their mental and emotional self. Buckets are filled with kind words and actions.

2. When their bucket is full, they feel confident, secure, calm, patient and kind.

3. When their bucket is empty, they feel sad, negative, insecure, nervous, and even angry.

4. Having an empty bucket can cause them to express emotions in ways that empty the buckets of other people.

5. Everyone has buckets at all times, and buckets need to be continually filled to nurture kindness all around us.
